A mobile automatic real-time environmental monitoring station, measuring the sea-water and air parameters, has been installed at Port of Burgas. The specialized modern equipment for monitoring the condition of the environment, has been purchased within the ECOPORTIL project. <\/p>\n\n
After a number of training workshops on sustainable environmental management at sea ports that has taken place in the last few months, the project finished successfully with a closing conference on 22 October 2020, which served as an online meeting the project partners from Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus and Albania. The organizer of the forum, where the results of the three years of work of the experts were presented, was Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company. <\/p>\n\n
\u201cWe are going through difficult times \u2013 the Covid-19 pandemic, but thanks to our joint efforts, we managed to cope with all challenges\u201c, commented Alexander Alexandrov \u2013 Deputy Director General of BPI Co. and project manager. He presented the new environmental monitoring equipment and software, installed at the pilot port of this project \u2013 Burgas. Mr. Alexandrov also presented the specially developed web application for monitoring the data and equipment maintenance. <\/p>\n\n
\u201cECOPORTIL provided us with the excellent opportunity to cooperate and contribute to the development of the regions, within the scope of this project. I am optimistic and I\u2019m sure that we will be able to further cooperate and implement other significant projects\u201c, said Prof. Chrysostomos Stylios, from the University of Ioannina, Greece \u2013 lead partner in the project. <\/p>\n\n
The \u201cEnvironmental Protection of Areas Surrounding Ports using Innovative Learning Tools for Legislation \u2013 ECOPORTIL\u201c project was approved for financing under Cross-Border Cooperation Programme \u201cBalkans \u2013 Mediterranean\u201c 2014 \u2013 2020.
