As of 8 April 2026, the motor vessel NAPOLI joined the regular Varna – Batumi – Varna line, operating in tandem with the existing vessel, VILNIUS. The decision to introduce a second vessel was driven by the intensive growth in freight turnover and the total utilization of the line’s current capacity since the service became fully operational on 16 January 2025.

Until now, this logistics link was serviced exclusively by the VILNIUS, transporting railcars, containers, and wheeled equipment, including heavy trucks, passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, and tractors. With an average call frequency of four times per month, the line has consistently generated a steady throughput of 500 – 750 cargo units in combined inbound and outbound traffic for the country. However, the sustained upward trend in transport volumes over the recent months has necessitated measures to expand cargo handling capacity.

The newly deployed vessel, NAPOLI, is a modern four-deck Ro-Ro passenger ship sailing under the flag of the Republic of Panama. With its commissioning, the cargo throughput on the Varna – Batumi – Varna route is expected to effectively double. This expansion will facilitate faster shipment processing and meet the business sector’s demand for a reliable transport link between Eastern Europe and the Caucasus region, further establishing Port Terminal Ferry Complex – Varna as a pivotal logistics hub in the Black Sea basin.

The Port Terminal Ferry Complex – Varna is expanding its capacity to service the strategic maritime corridor between Bulgaria and Georgia.
