On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the successful completion of the first Bulgarian single sailing tour of the world, the heroic journey of Cap. Georgi Georgiev enlivens on the pages of a luxurious 12-year calendar for 2018, issued with the support of Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company from Yacht Club “Captain Georgi Georgiev – Port Varna” whose patron is the famous sailor. Facsimile from original postcards, photos, excerpts from his personal diary, and letters sent by Captain Georgiev, during his 202-day legendary sailing, revealed the stoicism and the bravery of the great Bulgarian, shedding light on breathtaking moments of the historical world-wide voyage. The original calendar tells the fascinating story of Captain’s exciting adventure that captivates, enchants and inspires.
On December 20, 1977, Cap. Georgi Georgiev becomes the first Bulgarian to make a tour of the Earth with a sailing yacht. His World Tour with the Cor Caroli yacht started in 1976 from Cuban capital of Havana, passing through Panama, the Marquis, Fiji, Torres Strait, Australia, the Indian Ocean, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town to end a year later in Havana. The remarkable round-the-world sailing of Captain Georgi Georgiev is listed in the Guinness Book of Records, and he himself writes in his diary that there was no moment in which he regrets that he has accepted to do the sailing.
