Training for controlling spills and elimination of pollution of the Danube is being carried out by BPI Co. in Lom and Vidin

A training operation for the elimination of pollution, caused by floating solid waste in the Danube, are taking place on October 6, 2022 (Thursday) starting at 9,00 a.m. in the water area of Port of Vidin. The demonstration may be observed from Port Terminal Vidin Center (Passenger Terminal). A motor boat and a bow collector skimmer, intended for the collection of solid waste from the water surface will take part in operation.

Earlier today, another simulation training for the prevention of oil spills was conducted in the river waters, near Port of Lom. For this purpose, a highly-specialized motor boat was used to reach the site of the accident, and then the oil spill was confined, using a light boom, designed for oils spills in ports and coastal strips.

The purpose of these training sessions was to practice the interaction between the specialized teams, in case of spills and pollution, improve the application of measures and rules for action in case of emergencies and the use of the equipment for prevention and reaction in case of operational and emergency pollution.

The demonstration is carried out, using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities of the Bulgarian Port Infrastructure Company, intended for operations for the elimination of operational and emergency pollution in all marine and river port water areas. The training sessions are carried out by a specially trained team of the Marine Antipollution Enterprise JSCo.
