Beneficiary: Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company
The need for the implementation of the project arises from the obligations assigned to the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company under the Maritime Space, Inland Waterways and Ports of the Republic of Bulgaria Act (MSIWPRBA), to maintain existing and build new approach channels, port waters, sea and river dredging disposal sites, breakwaters, protective facilities, networks, and facilities of the general technical infrastructure, including access infrastructure, in the ports referred to in Article 106a and in the ports for public transport owned by the state.
The project involves the modernization and expansion of the technical infrastructure (berths No. 20A and No. 20B) for the handling of imports of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and petroleum products at the „Burgas East-2“ port terminal, part of the Port of Burgas, with a view to ensuring the energy independence of the Republic of Bulgaria through diversification of sources of supply of petroleum products.
The deepening of the eastern basin of the „Burgas East-2“ port terminal is a major dredging project that will allow the design depth of -12.55 m EVRS to be reached. This will ensure safe access and efficient operation of the port, creating the necessary conditions for the reception and servicing of larger vessels.
Main Objective: The main objective of the project is to provide access to the newly constructed infrastructure of berths No. 20A and No. 20B at the „Burgas East-2“ port terminal by achieving certain design parameters at a depth of not less than -12.55 m EVRS.
Expected result: Achieved design parameters for the operational water area and the approach and maneuvering zones for the maximum design vessels for berths No. 20A and No. 20B at the „Burgas East-2“ port terminal.
