By Decision No. RD-10-33 / 25.11.2013, State Enterprise “Port Infrastructure” opens a procedure under the Public Procurement Act for the selection of a contractor with the subject: “Consulting services for waste management in Bulgarian ports for public transport of national importance”.
The scope of the contract includes the preparation of pre-investment studies for the needs and capacities of reception facilities in 5 ports, preparation of a prioritized list of necessary equipment and technical specifications, creation of a database for waste generated by vessels, as well as updating of plans for reception and treatment of waste resulting from shipping activities in ports for public transport of national importance. The consultant will also have to prepare draft amendments to existing normative acts related to the management of waste from shipping activities.
The announced public procurement is in implementation of the project “Technical assistance for waste management in Bulgarian ports of national importance”, financed under the priority axis “Technical Assistance” of Operational Programme “Transport” 2007 – 2013, under which State Enterprise “Port Infrastructure” is a beneficiary. Within the framework of the project, adequate modern solutions will be achieved for the problem of managing waste generated from shipping activities, ship cargo residues, as well as waste from oils and liquid fuels.
The policy of the European Community in the field of environment aims at a higher level of protection. Bulgaria urgently faces the task of implementing the requirements of Directive 2000/59/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2000 on port reception facilities for ship-generated waste and cargo residues.
