On December 19, 2014, a seminar titled “Development of River Information Services in Inland Water Transport and Logistics” will be held at the Kanev Center building in Ruse.
The seminar is organized within the framework of the IRIS Europe 3 project (Implementation of River Information Services in Europe), in which the Bulgarian State Enterprise “Port Infrastructure” is a partner.
During the event, various types of river information services in the Danube basin countries will be presented, along with their developed mobile applications. The need for changes in Bulgaria’s regulatory framework related to mandatory identification (AIS – Automatic Identification System) of vessels navigating inland waterways will be discussed.
Institutions responsible for the control and safety of navigation on inland waterways have been invited to participate in the seminar – Maritime Administration Executive Agency – Ruse, Border Police, Customs Agency, Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River, shipowners, agents, and other interested parties.
The IRIS Europe 3 project – “Implementation of River Information Services (RIS) in Europe” is an international initiative supported by the European Commission within the TEN-T Funding Program, with the main goal of promoting harmonized development and implementation of river information services at the European level.
The IRIS Europe 3 project is the third project within the IRIS Europe initiative. The work of experts from partner countries is aimed at expanding the scope of river information services in Europe and forming unified standards for their provision.
