BPI Co. highlights Bulgaria’s strategic role as a logistics bridge between Europe and Asia at international forum in Istanbul

The Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.) is strengthening its position as a key partner in the development of international transport corridors during the prestigious Black Sea Ports and Logistics 2026 forum, taking place in Istanbul on 10 – 11 June 2026.

As part of the conference programme, Stella Atanasova, Deputy Director General of BPI Co., delivered a presentation entitled Strengthening international partnership between Black Sea Countries through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. During the panel discussion, she highlighted the strategic importance of Port Terminal Ferry Complex Varna as a vital logistics link connecting Europe with the Caucasus region and Central Asia.

Ms. Atanasova placed particular emphasis on the positive results achieved following the restoration of the Varna – Batumi ferry service. Thanks to significant infrastructure investments and the simultaneous operation of two vessels, the terminal has recorded substantial growth in cargo volumes and has strengthened its position as a reliable logistics hub within the framework of the Middle Corridor.

Alongside the conference programme, BPI Co. is showcasing its activities through a dedicated exhibition stand. Forum participants have the opportunity to learn more about the company’s infrastructure and information services projects and obtain up-to-date information on the development of maritime transport in the region.

Particular attention at the stand is devoted to Bulgaria’s upcoming hosting of the next edition of the forum Black Sea Ports and Logistics 2027, which will take place in the city of Burgas. As an institutional partner and future host, BPI Co. is using the platform provided by the Istanbul event to promote the potential of Bulgarian ports to the international community, bringing together representatives of port authorities, leading logistics companies, and international organizations.

BPI Co.’s participation in this year’s conference marks another important step towards strengthening cooperation across the Black Sea region and demonstrates Bulgaria’s active role in international logistics and transport connectivity.
