A new specialized motor vessel will be built on order of State Enterprise “Port Infrastructure” /SPPEI/ for the needs of Varna Port. The vessel will operate in port, roadstead and coastal zones of the Black Sea, with a sailing distance of up to 60 nautical miles from safe harbor. It will be fully equipped and suitable for monitoring and servicing navigation aids – marine and channel buoys, as well as surveying activities in the waters of public transport ports and channels. The vessel will be equipped with an appropriate foundation /”well”/ for securing the echo sounder and its accompanying equipment and a stern working platform.
SPPEI has announced an open procedure for contractor selection. The contract is worth 3 million leva excluding VAT. The vessel’s machinery and equipment are designed to operate at air temperatures from –25 to + 35 degrees Celsius, seawater temperatures from 0 to 32 degrees Celsius, specific density of 1.025 t/m3 and relative humidity of 70%.
The power plant and all vessel equipment will be designed and built in accordance with the latest requirements, technologies and trends in shipbuilding, meeting the requirements of EA “Maritime Administration” for this type of watercraft.
In March 2015, SPPEI acquired a new specialized vessel with multibeam echo sounder for monitoring and surveying the riverbed. The vessel was purchased under the project “Creation of a River Information System in the Bulgarian part of the Danube River – BULRIS”, financed by the EU through Operational Programme “Transport” 2007 – 2013. It was built in a shipyard in Greece, equipped with modern computer systems and measuring equipment for monitoring and surveying the riverbed. The vessel will service the entire Bulgarian section of the Danube River.
