Rehabilitation Related to Restoring the Design Parameters of the Provadiyska River Settling Basin and its Approach

Status: Completed, Type: Service. The sedimentation protection facilities for Canal No. 2 are designed to prevent the introduction of sediments into the water area of Varna West Port, the navigable Canal No. 2, and Lake Beloslav. This is achieved through continuous dredging or suction of sediments by means of a dredging device located in the settling basin. The specially constructed settling basin for this purpose is located at the mouth of the Provadiyska River, near its confluence with Canal No. 2. The sludge dredged by the dredging device consists of water containing about 10% solid matter (sediments). This sludge is transported through pipelines for natural settling in the existing sludge depot. The settling process occurs due to the sufficiently large volumes, areas, and retention time of the sludge in the depot, and the clarified water (after settling) is redirected back to the river through special drainage facilities.
