The Specialized Operation for Surveying the Bottom of Navigational Channel 2 at Port Varna Has been Completed.

The survey of the bottom of Channel 2, which connects Lake Varna with the ports “Varna West” and “Ferry Complex,” was conducted by experts from the State Enterprise “Port Infrastructure” – Territorial Division “Port Varna” and a specialized diving team. The channel’s route is intersected by numerous communication links that pass along the seabed and beneath it in special facilities (culverts).

Based on the available data and partial technical documentation, it was previously not possible to make an accurate assessment of the exact routes of the communication links, the coordinates of their passage along the channel, distances, and depth of placement.

In the annual program of the State Enterprise “Port Infrastructure” for the construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of ports for public transport of national significance for 2013, funds amounting to 3,000,000.00 BGN are planned for dredging activities and maintaining the project depths of Channel 1 and Channel 2 at Port Varna. Currently, priority is given to accelerating the preparation, part of which includes the completed surveys today.

The specialized activity of diving survey and precise positioning of obstacles along the channel was completed in less than 20 days by the crew of the self-propelled boat “Hydro 3” with Captain Evgeni Tushev and the diving group led by Vladislav Valkov. Modern specialized equipment was used during the inspections, which, despite the complex meteorological conditions and navigational situation, allowed the three culverts to be marked along their entire length. The exact depth levels of key reference points along the length of the facilities have been fixed, and the condition and purpose of the culverts have been determined. An underwater video recording was also made.
