Experts in Burgas Discuss Environmental Problems of Ports and Coastal Areas

The Coastal Management and Vessel Traffic Information Service Center in Burgas will host a working meeting on the ECOPORTIL project, where the environmental problems of ports and coastal areas will be discussed. At the invitation of the State Enterprise “Port Infrastructure”, interested parties – representatives of public organizations, regional and local authorities, business and research communities, will gather in the maritime city a year after the start of the project.

During the event on November 29, 2018, the analysis of environmental legislation already prepared under the project will be presented. The experts will discuss the methodology and documents developed so far under the project, as well as the potential points for monitoring and environmental mapping.

The project “Enforcement of environmental protection legislation in the adjacent areas of seaports with the help of innovative training tools /ECOPORTIL/” has been approved for funding under the Transnational Cooperation Program “Balkans – Mediterranean” 2014-2020. One of its goals is to improve the quality of the environment of ports and surrounding coastal areas through special training courses to improve the knowledge of stakeholders. Among the objectives of the project is the achievement of a sustainable maritime sector, sustainable blue growth and improved environmental monitoring through advanced ICT methods and tools.
