The Congress Center – Burgas has been awarded winner in the category “Projects Related to Urban Development – Urban Environment and Culture” in the national competition “Building of the Year 2020”. The recognition comes from a 31-member jury of distinguished representatives from professional and creative fields, chaired by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Valentin Yovev.
The award was presented to Ivaylo Ivanov, Director of Branch – TP “Port of Burgas” at the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company. The official award ceremony of the most popular and prestigious competition in the field of investment projects, construction, and architecture in Bulgaria was held on December 21, 2020, in the Sofia Opera and Ballet hall under strict safety measures.
This is not the first award for BPI Co.’s attractive building, which has contributed to the impressive appearance of the seaside city and particularly to the Free Access Zone of the port – a favorite spot on Burgas’s map where the city’s embrace of the sea is most clearly felt. The Congress Center was recognized in a national construction and investment competition already in June 2020.
The Congress Center – Burgas is another gem in the walking zone, alongside several other equally picturesque BPI Co. buildings that contribute to urban development, such as the Coastal Vessel Traffic Management Center, the Maritime Station, and the reconstructed Warehouse 1. It features two large halls – “Chernomorie” hall with a capacity of up to 550 seats, equipped with top-class audio-visual technology and stage lighting, and “Faros” hall with a capacity of 250 people. The building has 250 parking spaces in outdoor and indoor parking areas.
Thanks to its ideal location, spacious halls, and modern equipment, the Congress Center is an excellent choice for hosting various high-level events. Its successful start in its important mission to help transform Burgas into one of Europe’s most significant cultural centers is evidenced not only by the awards received but primarily by the growing interest in holding major Bulgarian and international forums in the city.
