BPI Co. officially launches rehabilitation of the old breakwater in Burgas

Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.) will officially launch the rehabilitation activities of the old breakwater in Burgas on May 20, 2025. During the event, the project “Rehabilitation of the breakwater in the port of Burgas” will be presented. The initiative, co-financed by the Transport Connectivity Program 2021-2027, aims to improve security and safety in transport infrastructure.

The project implementation envisages increasing the height of the breakwater and renovating its structural elements. This will not only optimize the provision of calm water surface in the port’s aquatory but will also add an entirely new functionality – a pedestrian walkway with free access. The project’s goal is to comprehensively improve the port infrastructure, enhance navigation safety, and provide higher quality port services in the Burgas port area. The contractor is “TRES” DZZD.

The total value of the project amounts to approximately 56 million BGN, of which 38 million BGN is a grant from the European Regional Development Fund and national co-financing. The project duration is 38 months. It will bring long-term benefits not only to the residents and visitors of Burgas but also to the overall economic development of the region through more efficient and secure port infrastructure.
