is among the three best projects of the year in the field of information and communication technologies. The “IT PROJECT OF THE YEAR – 2013” competition has been organized for the tenth consecutive year by Computerworld Bulgaria newspaper and aims to stimulate institutions and companies building modern IT infrastructure and using information technologies to automate their activities.

The River Information System, developed by the State Enterprise “Port Infrastructure”, received a nomination in the top 50 best projects of the year, passed through precise selection and was distinguished as one of the three best in the category of national IT projects implemented in the administration.

The project “Creation of a River Information System in the Bulgarian part of the Danube River – BULRIS” builds the national part of the Pan-European system for ensuring efficient and safe navigation on inland waterways. With the implementation of the first phase of the project, a river information services system has already been built, which collects, processes, controls and disseminates geodetic, hydrographic, morphological, hydrological, meteorological and statistical data related to navigation on the Danube River. The official presentation of the built system will take place on February 25 in Ruse. By the end of 2015, the project implementation continues with expanding the scope of the system and services that will be provided to navigators, with the construction of a specialized River Information Services Center and the delivery of a specialized vessel for monitoring the condition of the riverbed.

The project has a total value of 37,427,697.90 BGN and is one of the largest projects funded by the European Regional Development Fund of the EU and the state budget through the Operational Programme “Transport” 2007-2013.
