“IRIS Europe” (“Implementation of River Information Services in Europe”) represents an international initiative supported by the European Commission within the TEN-T (Trans-European Transport Network) program. The main objective of the initiative is the harmonized development of information services related to vessel traffic management on inland waterways and the unification of river information services at the European level. The focus of this initiative is placed on expanding the portfolio of river information services, with the aim of improving safety, efficiency and environmental protection when navigating inland waterways. The current project “IRIS Europe 3” is the third project within the initiative.

It is focused on the further development and refinement of key technologies, services and applications related to river information services and pilot implementation of new harmonized services related to the waterway, traffic and transport on the river, in accordance with adopted multilateral agreements and regulations for the quality and scope of river information services. The key objective of IRIS Europe 3 is expanding the circle of users and especially those from the logistics sector.
