Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company will inaugurate a modern electric vehicle charging station on Burgas city’s holiday – December 6, when we honor St. Nicholas the Wonderworker – the patron saint of sailors. With this new facility, installed in the parking area of Burgas-East 1 port terminal, BPI Co. contributes to a modern and “green” Burgas, and the port will celebrate St. Nicholas Day with another addition to its European vision.
The charging station is suitable for all types of electric vehicles – cars, buses, scooters, mopeds, and bicycles. It can simultaneously charge two electric vehicles with a power output of 22KW at 400V. Its high-tech display provides information in three languages – Bulgarian, English, and Russian. The service can be paid for using contactless bank cards, and a special mobile payment application is currently under development.
The installation of the new electric vehicle charging station is another step in BPI Co.’s long-standing mission to transform the port in the seaside city into a modern port with a European vision. One of the latest modernizations was carried out in 2016 with the renovation of the iconic Warehouse 1, with the reconstructed building winning an award in the category “Urban Projects – Transport Infrastructure – Burgas” in the “Building of the Year 2016” competition. The area around the Maritime Station, Traffic Tower, and Yacht Club was also improved. The port’s European vision was enhanced with the construction of a new road to the Maritime Station with a roundabout, new sidewalks, quay pavement and green spaces, parking areas for buses and cars, as well as a bicycle lane. After the reconstruction, the Free Access Zone of the Port of Burgas became an even more attractive destination for Burgas residents and city visitors.
