Operational Programme ‘Transport’ 2007 – 2013
Operational Programme ‘Transport’ 2007 – 2013 (OPT) is one of the seven operational programmes of the Republic of Bulgaria during the current programming period, funded by the Structural and Cohesion Funds of the European Union. OPT is the operational programme with the largest budget in Bulgaria – 2,003,481,163.68 euros.
The objective of OPT is the development of railway, road, and water infrastructure, as well as stimulating the development of combined transport, in accordance with the transport policy of the European Union and the established requirements for the development of the Trans-European Transport Network to achieve sustainability of the Bulgarian transport system.
A specific aspect of OPT is the prior identification of specific beneficiaries for the projects and the prior prioritization of an indicative list of infrastructure projects foreseen for funding under the programme.
Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company is a beneficiary under Priority Axis IV – Improvement of navigation on sea and inland waterways and Priority Axis V – Technical Assistance.
Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company has successfully implemented several projects under OP ‘Transport’ 2007-2013, among them are
- Design and implementation of a Geographic Information System (GIS) for port infrastructure management
- Vessel Traffic Management Information System (VTMIS) – Phase 3
- Establishment of a river information system in the Bulgarian section of the Danube River – BULRIS
- Technical assistance for studying the feasibility of implementing the investment project ‘Super Burgas – Public Access Zone’
- Enhancing the administrative capacity of Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company for the implementation of projects under Operational Programme ‘Transport’ 2007 – 2013.
- Technical assistance for waste management in Bulgarian ports of national significance
- Improvement of the material and technical conditions of Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company
