“What is a Geographic Information System (GIS)?” – experts in online-based spatial data are providing answers today to participants at the ‘MEDIAMIXX 2013’ International Forum, held in Albena resort. The seminar is organized by the State Enterprise ‘Port Infrastructure’ (SEPI).
Online GIS platforms represent an evolutionary step in presenting spatial information accessibly and conveniently for both processing and business purposes. From ordinary paper documents, geographic maps are transforming into intelligent software tools that assist in making management decisions and obtaining accurate and correct information.
Several modern GIS systems are already operational in Bulgaria, with others currently under development. The creation of an information and communication platform for spatial data and services at a national level is forthcoming.
SEPI is implementing a project for the development and implementation of a Geographic Information System (GIS) for port infrastructure management, which is funded by the Operational Programme ‘Transport’ 2007 – 2013.
State Enterprise ‘Port Infrastructure’ and its project partners are presenting today at 3:30 PM the capabilities of geographic information systems in a specialized seminar for journalists, included in the program of ‘MEDIAMIXX 2013’.
